"Altitude notebooks" formula

For a day (or over several days) live an extraordinary experience: the exploration of a glacier facing mythical peaks!

This course is recommended for people already initiated, but it is also open to beginners.

During this course, we will see techniques for understanding, drawing and painting high mountains and glaciers. The aim of the course is to create pages from an altitude logbook which will transcribe your experience in this exceptional setting.

Marche : Facile à Moyen

durée : une journée à
1 weekend

Program

Beforehand: We discussed together your aspirations, your desires and your level. I selected a place and a route based on them. We validated together the route and the meeting place .

For this type of course, it is recommended to have a good physical condition.

How is a day organized:

Arrival early in the morning at the car park or the meeting point, we quickly check the equipment of our bags and we take the first skip of the cable car (to see depending on the massif)

Depending on the approach time, we start to draw around 10 a.m. until 12 p.m.
At noon we take a break ( plan your snack ) until 1 p.m. and take the opportunity to do some observation, then the rest of the day we move to go draw in other places or stay on site depending on the themes you want to work on.

Before the last dumpster, we are back at the starting point and do a little debriefing.

Over a full weekend , the schedule may vary as we have more time to walk and draw.

We can do a program with a night in an altitude refuge and approach on glaciers to mythical peaks.

Drawing material:
In principle, I provide the equipment, but you can choose to bring your own if you already have the necessary or to buy it before leaving (I can also advise you), here is the list of recommended equipment:

  - a fine , black, water-resistant felt

- 2 pencils with hard and soft tips type 2B / HB and 5 / 6B or a mechanical pencil according to your preferences

- a notebook or sheets of watercolor paper with a grammage greater than or equal to  200g / m2, fine grain  (type CANSON XL Aquarelle, Hahnemuhle, Arches etc.)

- 1 watercolor box (with watercolor in pots or tubes, such as La Petite Aquarelle by Sennelier, Daniel Smith essentials set, Windsor and Newton, Van Gogh etc.) for a box with tubes, remember to take a box in which you will be able to mix colors.

Brushes : Choose synthetic, animals will thank you! (most of the brushes are made from Petit Gris squirrel hair or Kolinsky marten, pony, goat etc.)

Depending on your experience you can take ready-made brush packs or choose them yourself.

I often use Pentel reservoir brushes which have a fine point, are resistant and go anywhere (there are 3 different sizes.)

The brushes you will need in the field are:

- a wash brush (ex: Raphael Softaqua n ° 4 series 805)

- one or more round brushes with more or less fine point of number 3,5 and 8.

- a flat brush with soft bristles

As you learn, you can expand your collection.

- a cup for water

- a small cloth or towel like "chamois". (I use the small Nabaji towels from Decathlon which are light and efficient)

You can also take a sturdy plate to fix your notebook, and a small stool or groundsheet (WildSeat type)

I advise you to buy your materials in a creative hobby store to support our merchants, but if you are far from this type of business, here are some useful links to buy art materials:

Security and Insurance

Evolving in the mountains can involve certain dangers.

Even if the routes taken are safe, risk 0 does not exist. I provide you with the "artistic" service and accompany you on the ground with my experience and my years of practice, but under no circumstances do I make you pay for the "mountain service" as would a Medium Mountain Guide or a Guide. of High Mountain . We therefore operate under our own respective responsibilities.

As for the practice of mountain activities, there are multisport insurance.

In addition to your equipment, I recommend that you have with you an identity document, your vital card and possibly attach a small information sheet in case of emergency (ex: blood group, allergies, person to contact in case of emergency. emergency etc ...) I always have one with me during my personal outings.
